Chef / Kitchen Assistant
The Kitchen Assistantat the Carehome is an important role within the kitchen, ensuring that everything is neat and tidy back of house, whilst also making sure the kitchen runs smoothly at all times - completing various ad hoc tasks such as replenishment of stock, cleaning pots, crockery & cutlery and other duties requested by the Senior Chef on duty.This role can provide you with a fast track journey either in the kitchen and becoming a junior chef or with the right passion and drive offer you the opportunity to join the front of house team - however this comes with dedication, commitment and passion is everything that you do!
Wash dishes, Glassware,flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition Stock supplies such as food and utensils in serving stations, cupboards and refrigerators Sweep and scrub floors * Clean rubbish bins with water or steam Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas Clean and prepare various foods for cooking or serving Food Preparation:Under the direction / supervision of the Chef, using a range of kitchen equipment and tools, assist in the assembly, production, cooking and storage of food, where appropriate to ensure sufficient food products are made ready for transportation.
2. Food Service:As directed by the Chef, undertake a range of (rota’s) food serve duties, this would include ensuring that food is properly portioned and accounted for, cleaning and emptying vending machines and where directed replenish and maintain the machines, drink vendors and where appropriate reporting of faults.
3. Product Knowledge:When required be able to provide information relating to the menu items and how they are produced, including the main ingredients and basic product knowledge, advise all service users on menu items.
4. Domestic Duties:in accordance with safer food for business legislation complete routine cleaning programmes of all kitchen equipment, utensils and work surfaces. Undertake dish and pot washing domestic duties, Ensure the kitchen and unit kitchens and other designated areas / surfaces are cleaned to the required standards. When required prepare / clean designated areas such as the Barn (e.g. setting out / cleaning / clearing tables, chairs, counter / surfaces hot box, cutlery and other perquisites for the Barn dining area)
5. Other:To work as part of a team, contribute to the induction of new staff into the kitchen environment, e.g. such as shadowing, take responsibility for continuing self-development; participate in training and development activities including undertaking training required to meet service and government standards / regulations, which may be held at north London clinic.
